I am doing a bit of research on Web Service Service Level Agreements (SLAs).  I do realize that pretty much all Web Service Management vendors have some mechanism for specifying SLAs in their products, which they in turn monitor and enforce using their tooling.  But there does not appear to be a standardized language that can be used to specify SLAs in a SOA i.e. Each vendor has its own proprietary mechanism for specifying SLAs.

At this point, I really am not looking at a mechanism for providing a machine readable SLA language as much as trying to gain an understanding of what should be specified using such a language. I am familiar with SLAs as it relates to a public facing web application/site and want to explore what the criteria should be on a public facing web service. Service Level Agreements are a rather important facet of any enterprise class “service” that is offered for consumption, but there seems to be a lack of information on this topic at it relates to a SOA (at least as far as my Google skills are concerned).  Is IBM the only one out there that is thinking about this topic, with some degree of seriousness, at the Enterprise/Strategic level?

Any help or pointers to resources would be very much appreciated.
